The springtails (Collembola) are a class of the hexapods (Hexapoda) belonging to the Sackkieflern (Entognatha). They reach a body length of 0.1 mm to 1,7 mm and are found mainly in layers of humus that are not too dry soils up to a depth of a few meters and on rotting plant material.
